In accordance with LiveJournal's policy on adult-oriented communities , mecha_erotica is Members Only, and you must be at least 18 years of age to join.

Please make sure that your birthdate including the year is on display in the "Basic Info" section of your profile, and that it indicates you are at least 18 years old. A mod will check your profile for this info before admitting you to the community.

If you are a member of mecha_erotica and notice that your membership has been deleted, it's because you have no birthdate displayed in your profile. If you'd like to re-join, please put up your birthdate, re-apply and we'll happily reinstate you.

If you want to join with a secondary account, due to, say, wanting to conceal your robot-smut proclivities from family members, that's perfectly fine. We don't require you to have any entries in the journal you use to join (although one would be nice, just in case a mod needs to drop you a note). We don't require you to list Transformers or slash or anything else in your interests; we don't even check to see if you know how to spell and punctuate. All that is required is a visible birthdate in your profile which shows that you are over 18.

As an aside to this, while sockpuppet journals are fine, we are not admitting RP/character journals to the comm. You gotta be a real person.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Welcome to the home of the, shall we say, mechanically-inclined Transfans! This community was created when a few of us perceived a need for a place where Transformers fans could create and view quality, "non-sticky" Transformers romance and erotica. Fics of any length, artwork, and whatever else your imagination can come up with, are all welcome. Our content runs the gamut, from cute fluff to romance to outright unashamed smut; het, slash, interspecies, manbots, femmebots, OCs, self-inserts and shameless wish-fulfillment, among other things, are all permitted; there's something for just about everyone.

THE BIG DISCLAIMER: We don't own 'em. HasTak does. We're just *cough* playing with them.

Almost everything goes here, but we do have some rules, so awaaaaaaay we go!

1. This should go without saying, but first and foremost, please be respectful. Be courteous. Debate is fine, disagreement is fine, constructive criticism is fine; "you suck and are teh stoopid" is not. If we see disrespect, flaming, etc. relating to the comm's content or members, you will be asked to revise your language. If you fail to comply, your post or comment will be removed.

2. We now have a required posting format. Standards are handy, and this helps people find what they like and avoid what they don't. Before your fic or art, please provide the following information:

Title (if you have one)
Pairing(s)
Species
(if applicable - if your work has nothing but TFs getting it on you can remove this one. If you have TF/non TF, specify what your non-TF is.)
Rating
Warnings

You may add any other info you like (such as continuity, word count, summary etc.) but Pairing(s), Rating, and Warnings are required. If you neglect to place this information before the cut, a mod will ask you to edit your post accordingly; if you don't comply within a reasonable amount of time, your post will be removed.

Actual content behind an LJ-cut .

Warnings are required for, basically, anything that does not qualify as "vanilla." This includes, but is not limited to: B&D, S&M, Dom/sub, non-con, violence of any kind, (tw)incest, interspecies, cross-faction.

If you're unsure as to whether you should include a warning for something, don't hesitate to contact a mod and ask. We're not just here to crack the whip. :)

All postings to this community made before April 27, 2007 are exempt from this formatting. If individuals would like to go into the archives and edit their own posts to conform to the new format, they're more than welcome to do so; however, it's not required.

3. Speaking of ratings, we have elected to use the MPAA movie rating system as our standard. This link goes to the MPAA page describing the ratings; here's how they work as applied to this comm.

G: Nothing stronger then kissing and cuddling. Contains no language, intimate touching, interfacing/plug & play, etc. or any of the warning-required situations decribed in rule # 2.

PG: Mild language and/or innuendo; implication of intimate situations and relationships; suggestion of violence and other warning-required situations is permitted; explicit/graphic descriptions of any of the above is not.

PG-13: Stronger language and/or innuendo; mild/metaphorical descriptions of intimacy and non-vanilla situations. We'll call this a stronger version of the PG rating.

R: More mature content. We're past innuendo and implication here; intimacy and warning-required situations are obvious and descriptive.

NC-17: Adults only (meaning legally adult in your state/country/home planet). May contain graphic descriptions of mecha-style intimacy, sensations, emotions, physical reactions; as well as graphic descriptions of any of the warning-required situations. Potentially offensive, disturbing, and/or triggering material.

One quick note: nudity is, of course, not a consideration in these ratings, as TFs are technically all nude all the time.

4. Remember where we said "almost" anything goes? One thing does not: what we fondly refer to as "sticky." This is the type of mecha-smut wherein the robots have human-type genitalia beneath their armor (along with apparently vast reservoirs of various fluids), and engage in sexual activity as humans do. This restriction includes "humanized" Transformers characters, beast modes, and holoforms. There are several places where this type of erotica is available; mecha_erotica isn't one of them.

Due to LiveJournal's TOS , we're not able to link you to any of the aforementioned sticky-oriented sites; however, some judicious Googling should enable you to find what you seek.

If you can't figure out how else giant robots could possibly get it on, take a look at the memories, under "modus operandi"... or just read the comm. Our members have come up with numerous creative, 100% mechanical ways for Transformers to pleasure each other. :)

5. This probably goes without saying, BUT we thought making it explicit would be the wise course of action: The Vegas Rule applies in this comm; that is, what happens at M_E, stays at M_E. Obviously, your own material you can post anywhere and everywhere you like; but you may not re-post any other M_E content without permission from the author/artist, on pain of permanent bannination. The stuff we do here is iffy in the weirdest possible way, and no one really wants any wank occurring.

6. Promoting new Transformers-related communities is allowed, within reason. You may make ONE post announcing the opening of a new comm. Communities must be for creative work (art, fic, icons, banners, layouts) only - no roleplay, discussion-only, or character journals, please. Further posting for the purpose of trying to get more members or activity is not permitted; these entries will be deleted.

7. If you are not a mod, you may not: delete posts; delete/freeze comments; tell another member that they need to remove their entry. If you see an entry that you feel is breaking the rules, contact a mod with a link to the questionable post and we will take care of it. Conversely, if someone other than a mod tells you that your post doesn't belong here for whatever reason, ignore them and do not delete your post.

MOD NOTE: The challenges are on hold for the time being. Don't worry, there will be an announcement with great fanfare when they come back.

We also host a monthly challenge; the mods post a pairing, theme, quote, song lyric, etc. for entrants to use and the members then vote on the best entry.

Got an idea for the Challenge? Drop it in the Suggestion Box. Be sure to read the post before adding your suggestion.! :)

Challenges have their own group of rules, which are as follows:

1. The regular community rules all apply.

2. Entering any challenge is purely voluntary.

3. Challenge entry and voting is open only to M_E members.

4. This is not required, however, entrants are strongly discouraged from posting their entries elsewhere until after the voting period is over and the winner has been announced. The anonymity factor works a bit better if your entry isn't also posted on your personal journal, website, etc. :)

5. One entry per person.

6. Please post your submissions ONLY as a comment to the challenge announcement post. The comments will be screened, and when we post the entries for voting they will be unattributed.

7. Deadline for entries is one month after the challenge is posted. 24 hours either way (give or take) is acceptable, as we've got members in multiple time zones.

8. After the deadline a poll will be posted and voting will be open for one week. After voting is complete we announce the winners and everyone can congratulate them and stuff. :)

9. There are lots and LOTS of terrific authors and artists entering this thing; as a result, some end up with multiple wins. Should you win three challenges in a row, you are required to refrain from entering the next one, so someone else has a chance at winning. After staying out for one challenge, you are then free to enter again.

10. Roughly, the schedule for challenges is as follows: challenge is posted the first of the month, with the entire month open for entries; poll is then open for one week, after which the winner is announced and awarded a shiny banner and the accolades of their fellow members. Please keep in mind that the schedule can sometimes be rather loose due to that pesky RL interfering with the mods' robot-smut duties. :)

11. Any questions, please email a mod. Please don't comment in the challenge announcement with questions; it is strictly for challenge entries. All of our emails are in the community userinfo.
